Basic Concepts

3 concepts

Physical phenomenon

A change that occurs in a body or substance and is observable or measurable.

Mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, light and sound phenomena differ in characteristics, but are studied by a common scientific method.

Body, substance and matter

The physical body is a separate object, matter makes up bodies, and matter covers everything that exists physically.

A glass glass is a body, glass is a substance, and the substance itself and physical fields belong to matter.

Observation and experiment

An observation captures a phenomenon without manipulating conditions, while an experiment specifically changes conditions to test an idea.

A hypothesis becomes physical knowledge only after a reproducible test, and the model retains the important properties of a real object.

Physical quantities

1 magnitude

Observation time

Duration of observation or experimental exposure.

Unit: second ·
